        The recipient said they were really cheap on the cookies/brownies and basically had a stroke when he heard what I paid for it.

        I won't order again.

        Comments about Harry & David Mt. Baker Gift Tower Deluxe:

        This gift was sent to us two years in a row by dear relatives who live out-of-town.
        Both times we were disappointed. The cakes are mushy and the cookies are doughy. The Baklava was the only thing we enjoyed. I gave most of it away just to get it out of the house. They waisted their money on this item, but how do I tell them? I hate to hurt their feelings. I've considered sending it to them next year so they can find out.
        You asked, so I'm telling you.

          I would like to send this as a sympathy basket and would like to know how fresh are the items. I read the review where she states the cakes were mushy and the cookies doughty - how fresh - i want my friend to receive something she will enjoy.

            That's an excellent question! We have our own bakery, and flash-freeze our bread products to lock in freshness as soon as they have cooled down once they leave the oven. We keep them frozen until they are packed and shipped out of our facilities aboad climate-controlled trucks to maintain freshness. That allows the bread time to thaw gently before it reaches our contracted carriers, who make the final deliveries in unrefrigerated trucks.
