Comments about Harry & David Cushman's® HoneyBells - Four Trays:

Just received my western honeybells today. They are so sweet and juicy. I make sure to order at least once per season. They are just as good as the Florida ones. If you love oranges then you should try honeybells. All other citrus pales in comparison.

Comments about Harry & David Cushman's® HoneyBells - Four Trays:

I was very disappointed when I found out that my Florida honeybell order would be replaced with western honeybells because of the crop shortage and weather problems. I was also disappointed in having to wait a lot longer than last year to receive my order. I have to take that all back because I received my western honeybells yesterday and 1 tray of the 4 is already gone! They were so worth the wait! They are sooooo delicious and sweet and just a little bit tangy. Sooo flavorful and just melt in your mouth! I am so sad that honeybells season can't last all year!

Comments about Harry & David Cushman's® HoneyBells - Four Trays:

I ordered a large family size of the Florida honey bells for my family and while they arrived late, they were as delicious as they are every year. Five stars for those.

Last year, I ordered some Western honey bells and was disappointed. They were dry and inedibly sour. I decided I would not purchase them again. This year, my mother ordered FL honey bells as a gift for us, but the order was filled with the Western oranges. This year, they are juicy but still inedibly sour. She lives on a fixed income and I am embarrassed to tell her that she wasted her money. And, I have FOUR racks of oranges that we can't eat. Even juiced, my family is turning up their noses.

Very disappointed. Stick to the January Honeybells. March honeybells dry, chewy and for the most part tasteless.

I split this 32lb box of western honey bells with two co workers. We were very disappointed. They are not at all Iike the Florida variety, like I was told , when I ordered them. I will never order them again. We were very unhappy.

                          A:

HoneyBells are a hybrid or cross between the Dancy Tangerine and either the Duncan or Bowen variety of grapefruit. This hybridization process yields a tangelo with the coloring of a grapefruit and the sweetness and juiciness of a tangerine. For our purposes, we use the term HoneyBell rather than Minneola tangelo because we prefer the way that it sounds, and so, apparently, do our customers.
