I purchase the potato corn and bacon chowder and absolutely loved it! The only things to add were half and half, diced onion and bacon(optional). It was so easy to prepare and made a lot of soup which I divided into tupperware dishes and froze. This soup is delicious and the perfect make ahead meal for those times you don't feel like cooking

I bought the Pasta Fagioli soup mix. When I made it I had some leftover tomato sauce, which I threw in as a substitute for part of the liquid. It made the soup a little thicker. I would buy this again, and do the same. The only issue I had is that the soup was MUCH better the second day. So I would make it one day, but not eat it until the next when the flavors have a chance to blend.

At the time I bought this, we actually had a Harry and David store in our city. It has since closed, but I would order this online because it was so good. And I know Harry and David always stand behind their products and the customer service (on other items I have ordered online from them) has always been excellent. A+++++.

I personally put in a "Chicken" Soup choice which we all know Mom says is the best remedy for what ails us! Great to be able to choose from a variety of soups - personalize it for the recipient.

I was disappointed by the potato corn chowder mix that I received as a gift. I love homemade corn chowder, usually taking the time to chop the potatoes,celery, onions, etc. myself.
This time, I used the packaged soup mix, and I found that it wasn't as thick and hearty as I had anticipated, and the potato pieces were so minute that they were difficult to find. The soup was not rich and creamy either - the directions suggested low fat milk or 1/2/ and 1/2, so I used part low fat milk and part 1/2/ and 1/2 - it may have been creamier with all 1/2 and 1/2?
Plus, I don't think it would be a stretch if the mix contained dried garlic and onion. if you have to add chopped bacon, onion, and garlic yourself, it takes away some of the convenience factors. Also, I think the directions are not sufficiently detailed.
That being said, the second day flavor and texture was much improved.
