Do you feel that? It’s the change in season, when summer Fridays turn into fall Fridays. We know they’re not a real thing, but we wish they were. What is real is that excitement we get every autumn from pear season! So, to celebrate the harvest, here’s a pear-themed fall charcuterie board with all the seasonal fixings.

Snack boards are the perfect way not just to beautifully combine all your favorite goodies, but to share them with your family and friends too. There really is no better way to snack — go on, try coming up with a better one — especially when you have a bounty of seasonal, swoon-worthy snacks like these.

How to create a fall charcuterie board

There are a few key elements you’ll want to pay attention to when making your fall charcuterie board. You should start with the item you’d like to feature and then work around that. With it being the heart of pear season, I just had to make the Royal Riviera Pear the star of the show.

Part of a pear’s charm is its shape, but I also wanted my guests to be able to snack on it easily. To marry form with function, I used a mandolin to slice the pear for people to grab easily. I then stacked the slices to reconstruct the pear’s shape.

Second to the pears, great cheese is always essential to a board. I arranged a variety of cheeses across the board to set up a basic structure. Next, add jams and spreads to really elevate your presentation. I chose honey hot mustard, which pairs well with salami and baguette crisps, as well as an orange and fennel marmalade that perfectly complements the pears.

The last part to creating an eye-pleasing board is filling in the smaller spaces. This is where you can get really creative. Fill in the nooks and crannies with your favorite accoutrements. Try dried fruitolives, and of course a little something sweet. You can’t go wrong with chocolate. Lastly, adding an herbal garnish such as basil or rosemary creates a truly finished look for your fall charcuterie board. All that’s left to do is mix up your favorite cocktail, wait for your friends to arrive, and toast to the season!
