Shiitake Mushrooms

Native to China and Japan but enjoyed around the world, shiitake mushrooms come in a range of beautiful brown tones and have a uniquely rich, earthy, umami flavor. When cooked, shiitake mushrooms are remarkably moist and aromatic, with subtle notes of garlic and pine in their aroma. Though they lend an elevated authenticity to Chinese and Japanese cuisine, shiitake mushrooms can be used in any recipe that calls for mushrooms, and are delicious whether sautéed, roasted, or grilled.
