PEAR RIPENING 101
1
Your Pears Are Prepped
The pears you receive were carefully kept at the perfect cool temperature to develop
their sugars for the sweetest and creamiest pears you’ve ever tasted.
2
Speed It Up
Pears ripen best between 65 and 75°F. Put pears in a paper bag or an enclosed area
with a banana or ripe apple to ripen them quicker.
3
Slow It Down
Want to save your pears for later? Slow down their ripening and store them in the
fridge.
4
The Thumb Test
Check the neck! Press your thumb on the stem-end of the pear. If it yields to
pressure, it’s ready to eat.
5
No Pear Left Behind
Have a pear too overripe to eat? It can be just as tasty in a pear pie, smoothie,
fruit salsa, or pear butter.
